NHL Betting: Predators v Coyotes and Capitals v Rangers

Nashville Predators v Phoenix Coyotes

Despite the fact that the Predators were the team on the back foot coming in to the game, it was Phoenix who played with the greater intensity last time and it showed. Nashville now find themselves in a hole that will be difficult to get out of, especially if their opponents continue to exhibit this kind of form tonight. Fortunately for them, they'll be doing the digging on home ice for the next two games and the crowd at the Bridgestone Arena really do need to give their team a lift.

Nashville could well buck up and win the game, but Phoenix are far out at 3.50 despite being on a roll and I think that represents excellent value. For a safe option in the handicap betting, the Coyotes are 1.47 with a +1.5 start. On total goals, a solid shout is over 4.5 with odds of 1.72.

Washington Capitals v New York Rangers

Washington answered back in Madison Square Garden to tie their series against the New York Rangers. It took another big effort from young goalie Braden Holtby and a goal deep in to the third period by Alex Ovechkin to get it done, but the Caps picked up what has to be seen as a vital win if they are to progress.

Ahead of the puck drop tonight, the odds are extremely even with Washington at 2.50 and New York just behind at 2.55. I don't think being at home represents too much of an advantage for the Capitals here as the Rangers will make the game physical.

Best Bet: Phoenix Coyotes to win including overtime at 2.45.
