Florida Panthers at New York Rangers
One win in six makes it tough times for the Panthers as they see Boston hit form and move the playoffs further from their grasp. Although the last two road outings haven't been ideal Florida hold a road record that rivals many of the best teams because they're disciplined. It's up the New York to get out quickly and make them chase, Rick Nash and Chris Kreider will play major roles in the power game trying to break the Panthers down.
The Rangers lost a bit of momentum thanks to the All-Star game but picked up their first win since the stoppage against Carolina on Saturday, Nash scored seven minutes in on that occasion to keep his fine campaign going. Prior to that losses to the Islanders and Montreal showed they can be stifled as long as your goaltender is on point, here's looking at you Roberto Luongo to stand tall. I'm looking at under the 4.5 total goals line at 2.12 as well as saying this one goes to overtime.
Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames
The Jets are another side left cursing the break, after hitting the week off with five straight wins they've dropped all three games this side of it conceding 15 goals in the process. It's a worrying drop in their previously strong defensive play and one Calgary will fancy extending if they can produce their slick best. Six wins from eight is keeping the Flames very much interested in the postseason hunt although easy wins against Buffalo and Edmonton this week make it a little tougher to guess where they are at. It's been a little tougher up front for Calgary lately because the goalscoring has eased up from their defenceman but young guns Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan are keeping their great seasons going.
The defensive group hasn't dropped off in their own end that's for sure, no team has blocked more shots than the Flames and four of them rank in the top 15 on the individual count. Aside from a couple of off nights against Anaheim and Florida they were excellent at the back through January containing teams like LA and Vancouver. Bank on Calgary to extend Winnipeg's losing streak to four at 2.35.
Best Bet: A tie between Florida and New York at 4.00.
