It took them seven games to make it through the first round and now the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals must again win a do-or-die Game 7 to progress. Both teams have played their part in an enthralling series and will go at it for the final time later today.
The Capitals forced a decider after winning at home on Wednesday. Their biggest contributors throughout the postseason, Braden Holtby and Alex Ovechkin, were again key to that victory. You could infer that they have the edge in momentum after that win but it is unlikely to mean much, given all the hype and pressure surrounding this game.
The goalie duel between Holtby and Henrik Lundqvist is another plot line that will be resolved. Both have excelled but unfortunately only one will be rewarded with a place in the next round. Their form is a major reason why we haven't seen more than 5 goals in any of the games so far, and also why backing that to continue at 1.40 is a good option.
Home ice advantage sees the Rangers start at 2.10 to win the game (1.63 including overtime) ahead of the Caps at 3.20 (2.28 with OT). Washington managed to go and win a Game 7 in Boston so are unlikely to be phased by this trip to MSG, especially when the two teams have been so evenly matched.
Best Bet: Fewer than 5.5 total goals at 1.40.
