It's time to take the New York Rangers' revival seriously now, after four wins from five, plus the return of their resilient defensive strengths.
Their revival will be put to the test again an Anaheim Ducks team that they will be seeking revenge on. Anaheim hammered them 6-0 back at the duck pond last month and are much better opposition than those that the Rangers have faced in their only two MSG wins.
That said, Bruce Boudreau's team have only beaten one side currently above New York, since their meeting seven games ago.
The Ducks are averaging 3.27 tallies per game for the season but I make it down to 1.75 against current playoff qualifiers. They are certainly beneficiaries of a slightly generous schedule up to now.
Goals must be like buses to Derek Stepan as his first of the season on Saturday turned into a hat-trick, all assisted by his two new energetic linemates, Mats Zuccarello and Chris Kreider. I think the Rangers are pretty solid value at 2.55 since they are building some momentum in front of their own fans.
Winnipeg and Detroit switched conferences over the off-season and it seems to be working out significantly better for the latter than the former.
The Red Wings are joint leaders of the Atlantic, riding a three game win streak whilst the Jets are propping up the Central, with just one win from seven against other clubs from the West.
All of those Detroit wins have come on the road at Canadian clubs, so they seem a solid bet to round off an impressive road trip when visiting one of the least intimidating arenas in the NHL.
Winnipeg are still struggling up front. They've got some really skilled but big bodied wingers like Evander Kane, Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd, who I feel could be making more of an impression in using their size around the net.
Goals from depth players have also been hard to come by, that's something I've picked out from the Red Wings too but contributions have been coming through more of late. Push for a big Detroit win by taking them with a -1.5 handicap at 3.20.
Best Bet: New York Rangers to win at 2.55
