Detroit Red Wings at Toronto Maple Leafs
Detroit are aiming to continue their recent mastery of the Leafs and already beat them for the third time this season. It's been a typically low key week for Toronto that started with a 6-2 thrashing from Buffalo and got even worse when Nashville ran up a staggering 9-2 scoreline a few days after. Fortunately they managed to end a three game losing streak by handling Tampa Bay on Thursday but even that turned into a negative because of the fallout from the team not giving a stick salute to the fans after the final buzzer.
It'll be an interesting atmosphere at the ACC tonight and even more so should the Red Wings get out in front at any point, the players might feel a little hard done by for the backlash surrounding a ritual that isn't that big of a deal. A skilled lineup like the one Detroit possess is well built to expose their flaws as was proved last month, Mike Babcock implements an offensive gameplan without going all or nothing like the Leafs seem to. Practically even odds seems fair considering we never know which Toronto will turn up, for me it's still an easy choice to take the Red Wings.
Los Angeles Kings at Dallas Stars
Plenty more repair work ahead for Dallas after they finally satisfied their home support and snapped a dire seven match winless run at American Airlines Center. A heavily weighted home schedule so far for the Kings means they actually only have a single road win to their name that came right here in Dallas earlier in the month so it's a nicely balanced clash of two poor records.
The Stars had their revenge for that particular loss nine days later by winning at Staples Center nine days later and were the last team to inflict a defeat on the reigning champions. Packing the momentum is a vital one for LA on this road trip then or they could just continue to lean on Jonathan Quick who has played the biggest role in creating it, no regular starting goalie can better his current .938 save percentage. Defenceman Jason Demers should don the green for the first time after his trade from San Jose and adds some extra steel to a defensive corps that undoubtedly needed it. A tough call here and I'll give a slight edge to LA but the tie at 3.75 seems the right call.
Best Bet: Detroit Red Wings to win at 2.55
