Pittsburgh's charge up the standings was abruptly shut down by two quick losses in a double header with New Jersey. The Penguins face Ottawa tonight, who have the league's best defensive record and shutout Buffalo last night to confirm that further. These two sides are currently level on 16 points after 13 games.
It's obviously going to be a little difficult for Ottawa to bring the same intensity less than 24 hours after taking the ice but this is not the one sided matchup that the odds suggest, so take the Sens all the way out at 3.65 for the high reward.
Detroit must be relishing tonight's visit of a St Louis team that is shipping goals through a recent slump, they've been the team most responsible for giving the Blues the blues already beating them twice this month. St Louis' defensive collapses have come as a real surprise for a team that was so disciplined last season and early in this, they will be looking to the returning Jaroslav Halak to make the difference in net. Times certainly have changed since the Blues' 6-0 win on opening night, take the win for Detroit at 2.35.
In the middle of a quick tour of the West's Canadian clubs are Dallas, who have moved on to Calgary after winning last night in Edmonton. So far the Flames haven't found any solace on home ice in the Saddledome and are down in 14th after missing out in a number of close games. Interestingly though, Dallas are the ones who have only once had more shots on net than their opponent whilst Calgary have been doing it regularly, clearly it's about quality rather than quantity in terms of getting the wins. The Stars' upturn has given them all the momentum here, go with them to add another road win at 2.60.
Best Bet: Ottawa Senators to win at 3.65.
