NHL Betting: Shooting Stars will dazzle Minnestota

It should be a positive mood in the Dallas Stars' camp as they move on to play the Minnesota Wild on the back of consecutive victories including a 4-1 success in Winnipeg less than 24 hours ago.

New team captain Jamie Benn and major off-season pick-up Tyler Seguin's partnership is off to a hot start. A lot was invested in bringing Seguin to Texas and with a scary amount of potential between them, the early signs have been positive.

Minnesota were the last side in the West to earn their first win and need to now kick on. Questions are already being asked as to whether coach Mike Yeo is the man to lead them forward.

Goalie Nicklas Backstrom's form has been affected by a niggling knee injury and it undermined a lot of positive work their defence was doing. Fortunately Josh Harding is one of the best backups in the NHL and can hold the fort in the short term. Value is with the Stars here though, out at 3.25.

The New York Islanders were handed a first regulation loss in Chicago last night but have a great opportunity to get back in the win column at struggling Nashville, who sit joint bottom of the West.

One of the few positives for the Predators is the way rookie Seth Jones is adapting to the big time. Barry Trotz instantly put him on the top defensive pairing with Shea Weber and an average of 23 minutes a game aged 18 is seriously impressive.

It's up-front where Nashville have been lacking, with just six goals scored in four games and you have to attribute that to a lack of dynamic forwards at their disposal. Compare that to the speed New York possess and it's a complete mismatch.

Few clubs were better than the Islanders on the road last season and are arguably better suited to success on rival ice. Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin are there to throw hits and set the tempo. Again I like the chances of road win here so back New York at 2.75.
