NHL Betting: Slick Arizona Coyotes To Devour Edmonton Oilers

Detroit Red Wings 2.55 Draw 3.90 Boston Bruins 2.40

Seven days into the new NHL season and perhaps the biggest surprise of the first week in the East is how much Boston have struggled.

Just the four goals and one win so far for the B's, it was an OK performance against Colorado in their most recent outing on Monday though they do seem down on their usual relentless intensity.

The good news is David Krejci has returned to the lineup and surprise signing Simon Gagne will be suiting up for his Bruins debut today too.

Detroit already beat them last Thursday and have only had a very close home loss to Anaheim since, the very cagey opening contest ended up 2-1 but the Red Wings created more scoring chances.

Gustav Nyquist exploded into life through the second half of last season and his two goals are leading the way for the Wings.

Apart from him though nobody seems to be in any scoring form and I think under 4.5 total goals has a strong chance of paying out. Seeing as the odds haven't quite caught up with the fact that Boston are struggling 2.55 is a great price to take on a home win for Detroit.

Arizona Coyotes 1.93  Draw 3.90 Edmonton Oilers 3.45

Newly renamed Arizona (formerly Phoenix) have a split record from their first two games after getting tanked by Winnipeg and then outlasting LA on Saturday.

I believe they'll improve on that when they take on the only team in the West yet to score their first win, no sign of the long awaited upturn in Edmonton just yet.

Arizona have had three practice days since their last game but the Oilers were thrashed 6-1 by LA last night before having to make the trip over straight after so there's further advantage there for the home side.

Although we still have a long way to go Edmonton's play suggests they will struggle again even with the volume of high draft picks on their roster and coach Dallas Eakins is facing scrutiny already.

To me the Coyotes' two best players are their smooth skating defencemen Keith Yandle and Oliver Ekman-Larsson as they are each extremely good at bringing the puck out of the defensive zone and lead the team's transition up ice. They also play a big part in what is an effective powerplay unit that might get a few chances tonight if the Oilers don't work on their own discipline at the back. This should be a comfortable evening for the Coyotes so take them to win by a clear margin.

Best Bet: Arizona Coyotes to win over a -1.5 goal handicap at 2.65
