Carolina will duke it out with Boston tonight with the aim of causing an upset and continuing on their upward trend. A victory for the Bruins would once again take them out to the front of the East; they look as strong as ever and are the only team yet to concede a powerplay goal this season. Before the season began I liked the look of Carolina's roster and now they look like delivering on that. I think they could take a big scalp tonight at 2.04 with overtime - always good value for the side at home.
Columbus really need to arrest their current three-game losing streak if they want any chance of finishing off the bottom of an incredibly strong looking Central division. Sadly for the Jackets I don't see it happening tonight against the Dallas Stars, who can consider themselves unlucky to be on just five points. Dallas have had a really tough schedule up to now and have only just been edged out by the Conference's best. Other positive news for them is that Jamie Benn is ready to make his season debut after finally agreeing a new contract. Take the Stars to win this one at 2.45.
LA and Vancouver are yet to live up their billing as pre-season favourites from the West, but tonight's meeting gives them the chance to limit the already significant gap between themselves and the likes of Chicago. A first win finally came for the Kings on Saturday, and they should kick on from here, especially as Anze Kopitar found form in that victory with two goals. The Canucks are completing a three game tour of the Californian clubs. After being comfortably beaten in San Jose last night, this is a difficult fixture. For those reasons I'm picking the home team here at 2.15. LA will be fresher and have the Staples Center crowd to carry them through.
Best bet: Dallas Stars to win at 2.45
