NHL Betting: Stars will shoot past Sabres

Kari Lehtonen returning to the Dallas net should provide a kick start to the Stars' season as they currently sit bottom of a strong Central Division.

Tonight is a great chance at two points for them as it would appear road games don't get any easier than a trip to Buffalo, who have lost all seven of their games in front of their own support.

News broke last night of the almost inevitable trade of Thomas Vanek and although the Sabres got a great return from the NY Islanders of Matt Moulson plus picks, it signifies that this season is already a write off.

Ron Rolston can't seem to solve Buffalo's lack of cohesion off the rush and it doesnt suit the players available to him to play a dump and chase style, and now they have removed the only elite forward talent on that roster from the equation.

They really struggle to sustain any zone time and in turn pressure on their opponents. Such stark failures on offence just makes it difficult to gain, protect or threaten leads.

Saying that, Dallas have hardly been free-scoring but at least the Stars are consistently creating good opportunities, even if a lot of the time they are coming through Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Alex Chiasson. In four contests against clubs from the West, the Sabres have mustered only four goals. Back Dallas to pile on the misery at 2.40.

The Minnesota Wild could double up against the champions Chicago Blackhawks, as they host the second game of a home and away that started with an impressive 5-3 victory in the Windy City on Saturday.

That made it three straight for the Wild and I think 2.60 is solid value on them extending that, thanks to their even stronger home form. Jason Pominville did register a welcome pair of goals over the weekend after some indifferent form up to now and the Wild will also be looking at another of their best paid forwards Dany Heatley to improve his contribution.

All of Chicago's losses in regulation have been handed to them by teams from their division, so they have work to do in the matchups that really matter. To be fair, if this is the worst of the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup hangover teams, then should probably get at them while they still can.
