NHL Betting: The Stars Won't Get Bitten When They Take On The Sharks

Buffalo Sabres at Philadelphia Flyers

An unmissable opportunity for the Flyers in their playoff push against the NHL's bottom club. Buffalo have only won one road game since the start of December but the last two that rare victory over Montreal and a point in New Jersey. Defensive slip ups cost Philadelphia last time out against Columbus and brought a nine game point streak to an end. The game before the Flyers won 2-1 in the reverse fixture, Michael Raffl has bagged the winning goal in both clashes this season. Last week the the Sabres acquired Zach Bogosian and Evander Kane from Winnipeg, Bogosian has instantly taken over as their number one defenceman but Kane came over injured and will sit the rest of the season.

They also sent Jhonas Enroth to Dallas, leaving Michal Neuvirth to assume the lead role in net. He's done pretty well in the few starts since but not received much help from the offence averaging under two goals a game, Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons are still the only Sabres with over 10 tallies on the year. I can't see them pulling off the huge upset tonight, back Philadelphia over the -1.5 handicap at 1.95.

San Jose Sharks at Dallas Stars

Tyler Seguin's injury threatened to derail Dallas' postseason but a victory over the ailing Sharks to back up an impressive win in St. Louis would go a long way to keeping them involved. San Jose will be heading outside to play LA at the weekend and by that time might find themselves on the outside looking in. They've won once in six and been put in their place by two elite sides Nashville and Tampa Bay in the past few days. Lack of momentum at this critical time is a huge problem and I'm sure Dallas will come at them fired up so they really need a fast start to ease the nerves.

In the absence of Seguin captain Jamie Benn really stood up as a leader on Tuesday and bagged a hat trick, his link up with Jason Spezza becomes that much more important now. Coach Lindy Ruff knows his lineup doesn't suit a defensive strategy and getting offensive contributions from blueliners John Klingberg and Trevor Daley makes them that much more dangerous. There's only four points between the two and when the odds are split I have to go with the Stars as the form side.

Best Bet: Dallas Stars to win at 2.50.
