NHL Betting: Tampa Bay Lightning will strike Florida Panthers

Rangers versus Flyers is always an engrossing game and tonight's meeting should be no different, as both clubs still need to ignite their season.

Philadelphia squeaked by in a tight first meeting five days ago, but the venue has switched to Madison Square Garden this time round. That gives the edge to New York and they start as the 2.00 favourites. However, if the Flyers can match their opponents for energy, then their long odds of 3.20 look good value.

Injuries have already begun to ravage the currently bottom of the league Florida Panthers as they could have as many as six guys out of this evening's duel with Tampa Bay.

Many of those absentees are key offensive contributors, so I can't see anything other than a home win here for the Lightning, who are on a three-game win streak and average the most goals-per-game of any team. Odds on a simple Bolts win are 1.92, so go with them overturning the -1.5 handicap at 2.55.

Still red hot are the San Jose Sharks, who had dominant wins over Colorado and Vancouver at the weekend. The face Anaheim, who  will need to be disciplined and avoid spending time in the penalty box. The Sharks powerplay has been devastating, notching 12 goals on the man-advantage already - five more than any other team in the league.

I think they will win the game, but considering they've won by multiple goals in every game so far, the Sharks with a -1.5 handicap at 2.55 again has to be worth taking on.

Patrick Marleau's awesome goal streak is also still alive and he's down at just 2.40 to score, so perhaps it would be wise to go with his partner-in-scoring-crime Joe Thornton at the jucier odds of 3.50.

Best Bet: Tampa Bay Lightning with -1.5 handicap at 2.55.
