NHL Betting: Threadbare Flyers to Get One Over Rivals Rangers

Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers

Two discontented, passionate fanbases will be desperate to see their club put one over current rivals in the basement as Philadelphia face off against the NY Rangers.

Injuries have been a factor in the slides and there'll be some big names missing from both lineups tonight including Vincent Lecavalier and Scott Hartnell for Philadelphia, Ryan Callahan and Rick Nash for New York.

Speaking of absentees, Philly will rarely get a better opportunity against their division rivals with Henrik Lundqvist also out for the Rangers, Jason Missiaen set to make his NHL debut in net as deputy. Those that are available haven't been cutting it though and no more so than Flyers' captain Claude Giroux, last season he formed an effective partnership with Jakub Voracek but neither has a goal in eight games.

New York are in a better place but not by much and it's more a case of which team has a better shot at breaking its pattern, the Rangers being forced to ice a rookie goalie who big things aren't expected of swings this back in Philadelphia's favour at 2.35.

Minnesota Wild vs Carolina Hurricanes

Contently running along are the Carolina Hurricanes, with back to back wins on the go and the chance to make it four consecutive road wins at the Minnesota Wild.

It's been a tough grind so far for the 'Canes but they have been rewarded for their clutch play even though they are yet to win by a clear margin. Mikko Koivu's Wild are yet to win when conceding the first goal and it's not difficult to see why when their offence hasn't been firing as much as they'd have hoped; playing at home has given them the jump required to go out and seize early leads though and that's where their success is coming.

Defensively they should be able to get a handle in this one and Ryan Suter's pairing with Jonas Brodin continues to flourish, as a team they are allowing the fewest shots of anybody. None of Carolina's wins have come against the Western Conference, take the Wild with a -1.5 handicap at 2.80.

Best Bet: Philadelphia Flyers to win at 2.35.
