NHL Betting: Vancouver to feel the burn in Calgary

Two losses and just two goals scored is a summary of the early woes for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Every loss is being over hyped this early in the season but it doesn't mean they're worth backing to turn it around against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Goalie Cam Ward is even more central to Carolina's hopes considering the injuries they've had at the blueline, Joni Pitkanen out for the season and Tim Gleason indefinitely with concussion. They finished 29th in goals against last season, but those absences negate the additions of Andrej Sekera and Ron Hainsey in terms of their chances of improving that stat.

After they took a two goal lead against Detroit on Friday they completely yielded the initiative in the third, the job was almost unfairly left to Ward to try to sustain their advantage and he held out till the final 20 seconds. This is a great opportunity to gain a first win with the Flyers struggling, back Carolina at 2.25.

Winnipeg Jets vs Anaheim Ducks

The Winnipeg Jets' unbeaten start is on the line at home to Anaheim, an emotional night for the Ducks' Teemu Selanne who makes a return to the team who drafted him way back in 1988.

We've seen two very different efforts from the Bruce Boudreau's men this week, the uncertainty surrounding the goaltenders and turnover tendency will be ironed out soon but are both areas the Jets will be looking to exploit.

Winnipeg's top defensive pair of Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom have been extremely influential in launching rushes up ice and also their ability to move the puck quickly at the point, the pay off has been their combined seven points. Take Winnipeg to notch three in a row at 2.30.

Calgary Flames vs Vancouver Canucks

A stark improvement from the Vancouver Canucks in their defeating of Edmonton eases some concerns, it's back to back assignment nights for them as they move on to Calgary.

The Flames are another to be involved in a couple of goal-heavy games so far and somewhat surprisingly have three points to show for it. Eight goals from seven different scorers is an impressive show of depth scoring, six of Vancouver's seven goals have come from their top two forward lines illustrates how differently weighted their offences are.

Who is to say which is the better strategy? Whether the Flames have the ability to shut down the Sedin twins in full flight is debatable, the pair were sensational in last night's win. Despite that I think Calgary's long odds despite being at home are worth jumping on, They've come out this season looking to defy some preseason predictions.

Best Bet: Calgary Flames to win at 2.75.
